drive to LA (holiday diaries 2)

After San Francisco we drove down to LA over the course of 3 days. It was supposed to be four but we moved on quicker, even though it was a beautiful place. The place's we went were amazing and I 100% recommend taking a drive down the Pacific Highway! (so beautiful)

There was a view around every corner so I wanted to share my photos of them!

The beaches were stunning I swear, every corner you wanted to stop and be like 'BLIMEY O'RILEY THAT'S A NICE OLD BEACH ISN'T IT NOT???'

The cutest place we stopped at (and most expensive, oops) was a place called 'Carmel By-the-Sea'. It was a little artist town, with an art gallery on every other shop window, cute little clothes shops and lovely sea-food restaurants! eek, so wonderful!

Ok, so there was a funny little piano on a beach?! It had a little engraved bit on it saying

'Please cover me at night and tuck my stool underneath me so other people can play!'

So I had a cheeky play and then we had a walk on the beach where a lot of people were doing 'kite boarding' (I think it's called that?!) It was amazing to watch, you have to be so fit to be able to do that, and I am not good at doing exercise, haha!

This was my beach read! It's such an amazing book and I recommend it entirely, John Green is a book writing king and all of his books are bloody brillopads! (buy them all)

Santa Babara was breathtakingly lovely and simply wonderful (how extravagant!) Well worth as visit apart from me not 'sun-blocking up' properly and getting a massive red circle of sun burn on my belly! silly hayley

The drive down was delightful, everyone loves a little road trip from time-to-time and when I can drive I hope me and my friends can go for little drives with each other and go to weird places in spontaneous situations. That's most likely me wanting to live in a movie though, oops.

Thank you for reading!

san francisco! (holiday diaries 1)

Bonjour!

I sincerely apologise for not updating this at all I'm a bit of a sad excuse for someone that wanted to start blogging aren't I not?!
This past month has been mental and I'm soon going to start up a 'system' for my blog, like uploading three times a week maybe, or less... (oops!) My results for my GCSE's are given to us tomorrow morning and I am a bit of a nervous wreck whilst writing this but I need to get into the swing of things so I thought I'd tell you about my holiday!

From the 28th of July to the 12th of August, my dad had kindly booked for us to go on an amazing holiday to San Francisco and then to drive down to Los Angeles. I am the luckiest girl in the world, it was the trip of a lifetime, so chilled out and I recommend it to anybody!

There was the biggest mix up in the world with our flights but we eventually got out there on time after A LOT of stress, but lets just say, the palava was worth it by far.
Like I've said before, I'm no photographer and my poor little blackberry doesn't take amazing photos but I thought I could share a few cheeky snaps with you, eek!

Alcatraz is one of the most coolest places I've ever been, if you ever go to San Francisco this should be number 1 on your list of things to do. You get this super cool audio set where the cell guards and prisoners are all talking to you as you move on throughout the actual cell house? I was singing the 'Cell Block Tango' from the movie Chicago the whole way through my visit though, haha!

The famous cable car rail was so cute and old and it's super cool that people actually stand off the edges like they do in the movies!

China Town actually felt like you was in China and not in the centre of San Francisco, so weird!

The city hall is apparently earthquake proof (because San Francisco is due one any minute, quite scary right?) and because they were so certain it will not topple over they've genuinely decorated it with 24 carat gold?!

If you like sea-food, definitely go here.

Pat's Cafe is where we went every morning FOR THE NICEST BREAKFAST IN THE WORLD. The pancakes were top notch I tell you! Here's a shot of me and my coffee, looking like a tourist, yes!

A trip to San Fran wouldn't be complete without the great 'Golden Gate Bridge' and it looks absolutely amazing. When we cycled over it, it was rather foggy but still amazing. My legs hurt so bad after bike that far, I'm so unhealthy, oops.

The sea lions at Pier 39 were so surreal, and we also got this cute 'F-line' open top tram that took us 'Nowhere in Particular'. I thought this was so cute, the driver had completely revamped his tram and it took us all the way round the city for just $2! It was brillopads.

I'm sorry this is such a long post, I'll be post my LA pictures soon, hopefully it wont be as long or I might have to split them up, oh dear!
Thanks for reading!

stylish summer shenanigans!

Bonjour! I thought I'd post a few pictures about my summer so far in England, I'm soon due to jet off to the lovely San Francisco and I am so excited eek, but for the time being the weather in England has been immaculate! I've been spending a lot of time with my three fabulous friends Sophie, Alice and Megan and so I took a few sneaky pictures to show you what I've been jiving at!

The Willow Festival

My friend Alice and me both enjoy playing music and whatnot, and I went to go watch Alice play at a festival (yes that's how amazing she is!). It was one of the best times I've seen Alice play and if you want to check her out on YouTube click HERE. Last year the festival attracted 15,000 people and one of my best friends got to play there eek! (so proud haha!)

The Sun has got his Hat on!

We recently went to riverside where we live and sat in the sun for a while sending silly 'snap chats' and listening to old Busted songs. I must say, the photo of me in the middle is rather horrendous and Megan looks quite haunting on the right!

London

(please excuse the tragic quality oops)

We paid a long due visit to London for Alice's birthday and it was proper splendid, we went to the London Dungeons and they surprisingly scared me more than I thought they would?! After we went for a sneaky McDonalds (which Megan is sporting down in the bottom left corner) and we walked past Big Ben and the London Eye. I couldn't miss a snap with Sophie with Big Benny Boy (the clock thing) and we took a stylish group snap with the Eye (very saucy!)

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin' Down the River  (I love including a good song)
(as cheesy as it sounds)

To finish of a fabulous week, we all had a fabulous day with a quick spontaneous trip to the river. I love doing spontaneous things, so we all went swimming, in our clothes! It was honestly so much fun and with the weather it made things 10x better, along with a callipo from the shop (those are honestly the best ice lollies ever)

Hope you've all enjoy your weeks! I certainly did, and now 'tgif' because it's the weekend tomorrow!

my 5 most favourite summer songs eek

Bonjour everybody! (I'd say the second post was somewhat more daunting than the first because i had to sit down and really think about something that I was going to write so now I'm a bit flustered and scared for the upcoming post do forgive me young chappy!)

Music is the thing I love most, I'd say I mostly like rock music, but when summer comes around and the sun is shining like it is in England at the moment, I like to change what I listen to so it reflects my mood more, do you agree? So in which case I have travelled over to the trusty iTunes on my laptop and picked out a few songs that make me really happy, eek! ON WITH THE MUSIC MAKING:

1. Saint Raymond - Fall at Your Feet
This song is so easy to listen to and like 'groovy' (wow how seventies) but I saw him support Lewis Watson with my friends whilst he had a tragic sore throat and he was still so good! Listen Listen Listen!

2. Collectors Club - First to Know
A friend showed me this song last summer and I completely forgot about it, I quickly showed it to one of my friends Jo (who I shall plug right here and say that she has the most amazing beauty, fashion and like lifestyle-y kind of blog and you should definitely go and look at it right here!). I remember dancing around her bedroom to this and it proper reminds me of summer! Definitely give a listen because they deserve more notice than what they get!

3. Arctic Monkeys - Mardy Bum
I know this song is like probably what some people would call 'ages' old but it's the song that reminds me most of my Australia Camper trip with my mum! I think it's amazing how one song can just spark a memory *deeper than the bottom of the sea*. As soon as I hear the opening guitary bit, it instantly reminds me of us driving with the windows down and belting the words out at the tops of our voices. A good song for a jolly good holiday I think! Here I've shared their fabulous version of the song at Glastonbury which they performed at recently:

4. Lewis Watson - Calling
OH MY GOSH, THIS SONG IS SO GOOD! and if you've never heard of Lewis please do go and look at him because he's the most sweetest person ever! This song is so jolly and it's about going out to a park with your friends and drinking (if you're of age of course haha!) and having a fabulous time, and be aware because it totally gets in your head after your first listen!

5. (last one!) California Wives - Blood Red Youth
I went on a mysterious music hunt around the wonderful world of YouTube about a month ago now and started picking out songs that I thought would make me happy, and this definitely made the cut! If you're a shower singer like me, or if when your parents are out you start dancing round your house by yourself (even if you can't dance, like me), this is the one for you! Enjoy!

I know that not everyone's music taste is all the same but if you like some of the splendid 'tunes' I picked today then today is your day I suppose! I still do listen to my usual music though, can't beat a bit of Lower Than Atlantis or Mallory Knox can you now!

orla gartland!

Hello! This is so exciting because it's my first post and it's about one of my most favourite singer/songwriters ever, and if you have never heard of the FABULOUS Orla Gartland, then you should definitely check her out HERE.

Me and two of my bff's Alice and Megan (and Alice's mum eek) booked tickets to go and watch her play at the Barfly in Camden, London. I'd never been to that area of London before and it was one of the coolest places and gigs ever. She is honestly one of the nicest people! I am excited just writing about it except I don't know if you can tell because I'm usually filled with lower-caps typing and 'omg' and 'lol'. This blog is a step up though and it deserves correct grammar and punctuation don't you think? Well, that's what I think anyway.

The venue was so cool, we got there and we took a groovy trip upstairs to the actual place and the support acts were good but Orla was a lot better (obviously).
I didn't get amazing snaps but I took a few and here are some of my favourites, deffo check out Orla and her splendid YouTube shenanigans though, you won't regret it!

I also got the splendid chance to meet another singer/songwriter who has gained publicity through youtube called Lauren Aquilina, check her out HERE. Orla and Lauren have very different styles of music, though I find myself liking both!

Lauren Aquilina                                        Megan, Orla and Alice                                      Me and Orla

It was such a good evening with two of my fabulous friends and I hope Orla comes back so I can watch her again!
